About HKQS Games

A small Hong Kong team building instant browser games for players who want fun without the wait.

Who We Are

HKQS Games is operated by HK QS Technology Co., Limited, a company registered in Hong Kong. Our registered office is RM 28, 2/F, BLK A, KWAI SHING IND BLDG PHASE 1, 36-40 TAI LIN PAI ROAD, KWAI CHUNG HONG KONG. For any business, press, or partnership inquiries, you can reach us directly at aitaruan707@gmail.com.

The company was incorporated in 2023, right after the founding team noticed a specific gap in the market: players were spending more time downloading, updating, and managing mobile game apps than actually playing them. Storage warnings, regional app-store restrictions, and endless permission prompts were turning casual gaming into a chore. We started HKQS Games to bring the simplicity back — one click, one browser tab, one game.

We are not a large studio with hundreds of employees. The core team is based in Hong Kong, with additional collaborators in Shenzhen, Manila, and Ho Chi Minh City who help with QA, localization, and art production. This setup keeps our overhead low and our decision-making fast, which matters when you are running a platform that updates weekly.

How This Started

The idea for HKQS Games came together in early 2023 over a late dinner in Mong Kok. The founders — two former mobile-game product managers and one full-stack engineer — had spent the previous five years watching the same pattern repeat itself. A great hyper-casual game would launch, gain traction, then lose half its audience within a month because of install friction, update fatigue, or device-storage issues.

Rather than build yet another app-store title, the team decided to focus entirely on browser-based instant play. The bet was simple: if a game loads in under three seconds inside a mobile browser and plays smoothly without asking for permissions, more people will try it, more people will share it, and more people will come back.

The first prototype went live in June 2023. It was a single HTML5 puzzle page hosted from a basic VPS. The team shared the link in a few Reddit threads and Telegram groups, then watched the analytics. Within 48 hours, players from 14 countries had tried it. The average session was short — about four minutes — but the bounce rate was lower than any app-store launch the founders had run before. That was enough proof to incorporate the company and turn the prototype into a real platform.

By the end of 2023, the platform had grown from one game to seven. In 2024, the team added cross-language support and a lightweight recommendation row on the homepage, and began publishing regular guides for each title so players could improve without hunting across the web.

By the Numbers

We are deliberately small, and we would rather publish seven games that run perfectly than seventy that crash on a mid-range phone. Here is where we stand as of mid-2026:

Founded: 2023 in Hong Kong.

Games live: 7 titles, focused on puzzle and light-action experiences that suit short play sessions.

Player footprint: visitors from more than 80 countries, with the strongest traffic coming from the United States, Brazil, India, Indonesia, and the Philippines.

Platform focus: mobile-first browser play. We optimize every title for touch controls and under three-second load times on a 4G connection.

Markets: our audience is overwhelmingly on mobile — roughly two out of every three sessions happen in a phone browser rather than on a desktop.

Average load time: around 2.3 seconds on a 4G connection for our median title.

Team size: a small core team plus a rotating network of freelance QA testers and illustrators.

Meet the Team

We use role names internally rather than formal titles, because everyone does a bit of everything during a launch week. Here are the people steering HKQS Games day to day:

Founder & Product Lead — "M."

M. previously spent six years in mobile game publishing in Hong Kong and Singapore. He handles platform strategy, publisher partnerships, and the unglamorous task of reading player feedback emails every morning. He is the one who pushed for the three-second load-time target.

Lead Engineer — "K."

K. built the first version of our game loader and still maintains the rendering pipeline. Before HKQS Games, he worked on fintech dashboards and streaming backends, which turned out to be useful training for squeezing performance out of mobile browsers.

Game Designer — "L."

L. designs levels, tunes difficulty curves, and runs playtests with local university students every Thursday. She keeps a spreadsheet of player drop-off points and argues passionately about tutorial length.

Frontend Developer — "R."

R. makes sure the site works on the devices real people actually use: three-year-old Android phones, budget tablets, and older iPads. He maintains the browser-compatibility matrix and usually has at least one obscure device on his desk.

Art Director — "S."

S. leads the visual style across our catalog, coordinates freelance illustrators, and produces the banners and icons you see on the homepage. She is based in Manila and joined the team after contributing art to one of our earliest titles.

Operations & QA — "T."

T. manages release checklists, ad-ops reporting, and the bug-triage board. If a game goes live at 2 a.m. Hong Kong time, T. is usually the one who pressed the button.

How We Work

Our working style is closer to a small product studio than a traditional publisher. We ship small, measure quickly, and iterate based on what the data shows. There are no long strategy decks; decisions are made in short daily stand-ups and a weekly retrospective on Friday afternoons.

Every game that joins the platform goes through the same process. First, we play it ourselves on a range of devices. Then we run automated performance tests across Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, and Samsung Internet. After that, we put it in front of a panel of casual players and watch for confusion points. Only then do we schedule a public launch.

Three values guide the team. Respect the player's time. We do not gate basic gameplay behind long sign-up flows, forced notifications, or aggressive interstitials. Keep the tech simple. We avoid heavy frameworks and unnecessary dependencies so the site stays fast and maintainable. Ship what works. A feature that looks great but slows loading by a second does not make it to production.

Most of the team works from the Kwai Chung office two or three days a week, with the rest spent working remotely. Engineering and design sync up daily at 10:00 a.m. HKT; QA and partner support overlap with Southeast Asian time zones in the afternoon.

Why Instant-Play Browser Games

We chose browser games for practical reasons, not philosophical ones. The modern mobile browser is now fast enough to run polished 2D and light 3D experiences. WebGL, improved JavaScript engines, and better compression mean a well-built HTML5 game can feel nearly identical to a native app for the kind of short-session play our audience prefers.

For players, the benefit is obvious: no install, no update prompts, no storage anxiety. For developers, browser distribution removes app-store approval delays and regional restrictions. A developer in Jakarta can update a game on Monday and have it live for players in Lagos and London on Tuesday.

We also believe browser games are a better fit for how people actually use their phones today. Most gaming happens in small gaps: a commute, a lunch break, a few minutes before bed. Those moments do not justify a 200 MB download. A browser game that loads in two seconds fits the rhythm of real life.

That is the opportunity HKQS Games is built around. We are not trying to replace console or PC gaming. We are building the easiest place to find a good game when you have five minutes and no patience for an app store.
